News 13/08/2023 – F-4E Images, VBS2, Other Updates

It's mid-August already! Here is a bunch of news, spanning from the just released new F-4E images, to Virtual Backseaters Volume II, and much more!

After a couple of very busy weeks with little to no articles or videos released, I hope I can find more time in the second half of the month.

DCS F-4E Phantom II – Preview Images

In the meantime, Heatblur has released a few images of the front cockpit of the F-4E. As usual, it looks obscenely good!

Virtual Backseaters Volume II – F-4E Weapon Systems Officer

A few months ago, on my Discord server, I discussed, what the best way to expand the VBS series of books/manuals will be. The solution found should make the addition of the second volume simpler, whilst streamlining the maintenance of the books. More info on this later!
In the meantime, however, I am preparing a first draft based on the “Phantom Phamiliarisation” series.

Updates, New Articles, Maintenance, Campaign

In the background, the process of updating old articles continues. The next one in my pipeline is the Brevity list, to be updated to match the version posted in VBS Volume I.

There are many other articles and videos slowly being put together (there are 161 drafts on this website!). For instance, a “Back to Basics” article about TWS, as I continue to see tons of misconceptions on this ubiquitous radar mode. Another article should have been a study about the guidance on Extrapolate Tracks generated by the AWG-9 WCS post missile employment. Well, as it turned out, this is not the best moment to do it!

Lastly, I put together some key points for an MP Campaign vaguely based on the fights of the Dhofar Rebellion. Tons of factions can be involved (from UK to Iran, to USSR and China), another great scenario for low-tech / low-intel fights. The only problem is that we need the Alicat and the F-4E.
