I hope you are all doing fine in this holiday period.
With the parenthesis about AAA and Air defences closed, I would like to go back to the Phantom, and start diving into the air-to-ground side in two ways.
- In primis, by updating the website with the bits and pieces covered only in my book/manual, 9-line CAS briefing and planning. It includes observations with real JTACs and personnel about hypothetical employment of the Tomcat in such scenarios in DCS. Some considerations work for the F-4 as well.
- Next, by briefly introducing the topic of air-to-ground and the quest for precision, in which a fundamental step is the familiar Dive Toss. DT, in fact, whilst not as precise as guided munitions, provided that consistency that manual bombing lacked. Thereafter, the plan is to introduce section tactics to execute sequential attacks from different directions.
All of this should complement well the already discussed low-level navigation and planning, and the air defences considerations. Along the vastly analysed air-to-air, the upcoming discussion should ensure that all the main employment methods relevant to the F-4 are covered. Worth noting, many of them can be applied to the F-14, the still in development A-6 and the fantastic Tornado as well.
Away from that and on a different note, I have received more negative feedback about my usage of TTS. I fully understand the dislike towards the omnipresent AI and US-based big tech, but there’s a bloody big difference between transforming a manually written script into audio and generating it ex novo. If you are new to this website and channel, you can find multiple discussions about the raison d’être behind this.
The only alternative solution I can think of is to go back to human voicing. However, this option would dilute my releases to a dozen videos per year and would force me to release written articles without the video companion. More likely, I would use TTS any way but reserve those videos for Patreon / YT Members.
The current schedule instead is closer to a video every 10 days / 2 weeks.
Unfortunately, until I can go back to the status quo ante, I won’t be able to use human VA and decent release frequency.
On top of that, I also read that my discussions are not detailed enough. I thought vectors, equations, numbers, charts, and theorems provided a sufficient layer of depth, but I can also add more theory and numbers if you think it can be helpful. In my opinion, it would be overkill and probably result in more confusing and unnecessarily lengthy discussions, but please let me know what you think about this.
