This is a fantastic article written in 1985 by two US AF F-15 pilots. It explains and introduces the transition from BVR into the merge, what to look for, and what the fighter pilot should try to achieve. Although limited to a very broad view of the process, it provides an interesting perspective, especially useful to ab initio players.
